TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Buying or selling your home can be a stressful time.. We pride ourselves on making the actual moving process as stress-free as possible. In fact one of our favourite bits of feedback that we receive are people saying we make the process enjoyable!
There are things, however, that can change when exchanging contracts and when things do we also pride ourselves on being as reasonable as possible. We understand the nuances of moving home and we have lots of experience from which to draw.
To be fully transparent we have outlined our terms and conditions below.
If you have any concerns at all please feel invited to discuss them with us. You can call us on 07752980412 or email at contact@djremovals.com anytime!
All quote requests for removals, transportation or recycling and waste should be initiated via our online self-survey form.
Upon receiving a self-survey form we will endeavour to respond within 48 hours.
Quotes are valid for five calendar days. If you are happy to proceed then we ask you to confirm by replying to the quote email. This reply then acts as an agreement between us.
For all jobs we require a deposit to be paid no later than five calendar days prior to the job date. For some larger jobs we may require the total sum in advance. We prefer payments by bank transfer but can accept cash. Payment details are at the bottom of the quote. We can give you a full receipt after the job is completed.
All balances are to be paid before we leave the collection property.
Please be aware that under the Customer Contract Regulations Act (2013) you have 14 calendar days to cancel and this ‘cooling-off’ period would start immediately.
CANCELLATIONS AND DELAYS:
We understand that from time-to-time some removal days get delayed. Sometimes we may need to postpone a move. In such cases of a postponement we will agree a new date for the move. This will, of course, be subject to our availability.
If there is a long delay on a handover we may have to add a surcharge on the day. Please see ON THE DAY section below.
We operate all year round but in the winter time (and sometimes the summer!) there are times when adverse weather conditions can impact a move. Although extremely rare, on such occasions we may opt to postpone all or part of the job.
Upon arrival we will conduct risk assessments and continuously re-evaluate throughout the day. If for any reason the removal or transportation is delayed by unforseen circumstances the job may need to be extended to another day. We understand this may not always be convenient.
If we are travelling long distance we typically schedule the travelling so that the loading/unloading takes place in the daylight. We may opt to travel at off-peak times (or at night) in order to facilitate this.
INSURANCE AND DAMAGE:
We take every precaution to protect your items and their surroundings when moving them in and out of a property. We often use mats and rugs to protect edges. We pride ourselves on taking the utmost care but it should be noted that damage can occur in this line of work. For your peace of mind we are fully insured with goods-in-transit and public liability cover.
If you are self-packing we recommend you pack their items well ahead of the job, in strong double-walled cardboard or plastic boxes. Don’t overfill the boxes.. remember there is a legal limit of 20kg in any bag or box. A good general rule is to pack heavy items in small boxes and large bulky items in large ones.. books in small and pillows in big. We cannot be responsible for damage occurred within self-packing boxes so please take extra care with your items.
Please note that we are unable to provide insurance for all self-packing jobs.
ON THE DAY:
When liaising with you on the day we insist on a singular point of liaison should decisions need to be made quickly. We understand this may seem unusual but in order to operate efficiently and safely we need a clear channel of communication with yourselves. Upon arrival we will require this person to sign our quote form before we enter the premises. We note that this person may not be the person who initially booked us or is paying the bill.
If, upon arrival, there is a significant increase in the inventory we may increase the price. This will be noted on the quote form and agreed with yourselves before proceeding.
We have a good understanding of the legal and administrative professions involved with moving. We know how solicitors and estate agents conduct their roles. Some are faster than others.
We know how people are often in chains when exchanging contracts. Most of these people have their own removals teams and delays at any part of the chain can have knock on effect. In all our years of moving people there has only been one instance in which litigious delays spilled over to the next day. It is worth reminding you that the estate agents involved have a legal duty to have you moved in by the end of the day- despite what may or may not be indicated.
